Created by Olszewski for his Historical Series produced by Goebel Miniatures
This figurine is an interpretation in miniature of the Capodimonte porcelain figurine, "Rites of Spring" which came from the 1840 era. Olszewski chose this because of its complexity and intricate surface detail. Olszewski purchased the figurine in an antique shop happened to be exactly 12" tall thereby he could carve a figurine exactly 1" tall. Capodimonte was first released in 1980 carrying a design mark of 600-P. It was later issued in 81, 82, 85 and 86. The issue price in 1980 was $90.00. One figurine in stock is an 1980, signed, and has a date on it of 1/9/1983. Another is an 1980, and the third is also signed by the artist, and is a 1981 release.
