Historical Series Masquerade St. Petersburg
SKU: DH 601-P
This is a consignment piece and the price is negotiable. This figurine is a copy of a Russian figurine from around 1840 which Olszewski purchased at an antique show in Santa Barbara. Carving time on this tiny figurine was about 250 hours. The figurine is not only tiny, but shows strong movement. As I type this description, it brings me to date the popular TV program "Dancing with the Stars." Would it not be grand to see the beautiful costumes again? The lace and detail of her skirt is extraordinary. Olszewski sculpted motion again with their body attitudes; she is leaning away from him and his head is tipped back. That is great couples dancing! The "Masquerade St. Petersburg" was issued first in 1980. Because of it's popularity using it in doll houses, it was reissued in 80, 81, 82, and 85. The issue price then was $65.00 carrying the design mark of 601-P. This item is not in its original box. Produced by Goebel Miniatures
